About the founder
Ocean Oculus is led by Dr Samantha Andrews, a science communicator and research consultant with experience in science, journalism, government, and private business. She works across the ocean landscape to translate complex information into clear, accessible communication and to design strategies that support meaningful engagement.
She holds a PhD in marine science, which grounds her work in evidence-based thinking and a practical understanding of the research environment. Before establishing the agency, she spent more than a decade helping to create evidence-based research and reporting, developing communication strategies, delivering public engagement workshops, and training scientists in effective communication. Her work is shaped by clarity, purpose, and a commitment to supporting a sustainable and equitable ocean future.

Created by Dr Samantha Andrews and managed by Ocean Oculus, Ocean Opportunities is a developing community hub designed to help people navigate careers, opportunities, and connections in the ocean space.
