Help A Researcher Out: Share Your Perspective on Mussel Farming in the Sea!

Help a Researcher Out!

Miriam von Thenen (Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde, Germany) is currently working on the positive and negative impacts of mussel farming and how these should be taken into account in mussel farm site selection.

Are you a mussel farmer, a researcher, a decision-maker, a planner, or in other ways interested in mussel farming and want to share your view? Then take part in this survey before March 11, 2020!

The survey is part of the BONUS BASMATI project and the results will contribute to my dissertation about marine spatial planning and ecosystem services, using mussel farming as a case study. Mussel farming is an emerging use of the sea with benefits but also potential negative impacts. I would like to know from you which benefits and negative impacts you associate with this type of aquaculture. The survey consists of general questions, questions about mussel farming, and a couple of questions about mussel farming in the Baltic Sea. If you are not familiar with the Baltic Sea – don’t worry, this is not a prerequisite to take the survey and views from outside the Baltic Sea are welcome! It will take around 10 minutes to complete the survey. The survey is available in English, Danish, and German and will be online until March 11, 2020.

Your help is very much appreciated! If you have any questions about my research, feel free to contact me (miriam.thenen[AT]io-warnemuende.de).

Please feel free to distribute this survey to anybody who may wish to respond.

Thank you,

Miriam
